How to Recycle Batteries the Easy Way

1. Order & Set Up

Order online in minutes. Your fire-safe box arrives within 5–10 business days.

Place it in a visible, accessible spot, reception, warehouse, or staff room.

2. Collect Safely

Use the provided zip-lock safety bags and tape over battery terminals. Staff and visitors can easily drop off their used batteries.

3. Return for Recycling

Book a free metro pickup through our online portal or drop it off at your local Australia Post Outlet. We take care of transport, recycling and reporting, so you don’t have to.

Every box is tracked and weighed at our facility, then consolidated and processed through our partner EcoBatt facility, ensuring verified recycling, responsible recovery and full traceability.

Nationwide Coverage: Simple Returns Anywhere in Australia

Free collections available across all metro areas (excluding Darwin) and more than 3,600 regional suburbs. If you’re outside these zones, you can drop your sealed box at any Australia Post outlet, return shipping is prepaid.

How do I safely dispose of batteries for recycling?

Improper battery disposal is a known fire risk. To safely prepare batteries for collection:

  1. Tape over the terminals with clear packing tape or electrical tape.
  2. Insert together with all (+) terminals pointing in the same direction.
  3. Place the bagged batteries into the Close the Loop recycling box

Note: Batteries must not be placed in incompatibly sized collection bags used for cartridges, this program requires dedicated fireproof boxes for transport

Close the Loop have partnered with Envirostream for battery recycling. Envirostream’s technology is based on international best practice facilities utilising a combination of mechanical and hydraulic separation techniques to recover around 95% of the material.

Yes, Australia post have 4,500 post offices across Australia. You can drop this box off to any post office.

What do I need to do prior to booking in a collection?

Please make sure you have followed our disposal instructions below. Follow these instructions to pack, secure and ship your products.

When do I receive my battery collection box?

Delivery usually takes 3-5 business days after making payment. If you have not received your recycling box please call us on 1800 24 24 73.

Can I get a refund on my purchase?

We do provide refunds under appropriate circumstances. The recycling box will need to be sent back to Close the Loop. Upon successful inspection of the returned box Close the Loop will refund the funds back to you. Click here to read our return policy.

What does the sale price of $89.95 entail?
