e-Waste Collection for Australian Offices

Leveraging 25 years of product stewardship leadership

For over 25 years, Close the Loop has managed Australia’s most successful printer cartridge recovery program, achieving Zero Waste to Landfill and processing over 17 million cartridges annually through our national network.

Now, we’re extending that same proven system to tackle one of Australia’s fastest-growing waste challenges, electronic waste.

Australians generate more than 500,000 tonnes of e-waste every year, yet less than 12 percent is recycled responsibly (ABS 2023, ABC News 2022).

Much of it still ends up in landfill, releasing heavy metals and toxins that contaminate soil and waterways. In fact, it’s now illegal to dispose of e-waste to landfill in several Australian states, including Victoria, where it’s banned under the EP Act 2019.

Our goal is to change that, helping offices, schools, and businesses keep valuable materials like copper, gold, aluminium, and plastics in use, not waste.

By leveraging our national freight network, automated booking portal, and trusted recycling partners, Close the Loop makes e-waste recycling easy, compliant, and accessible nationwide.

Join thousands of businesses already closing the loop on office waste.

Environmental Impact

  • Every box collected keeps precious metals like gold, copper, and nickel in circulation and prevents hazardous materials from entering landfill.

  • Recycling just 1 tonne of circuit boards can recover up to 250 grams of gold, worth thousands of dollars in materials that would otherwise be lost (UN University Global E-Waste Monitor 2024).

  • Together, we can reduce waste, conserve critical minerals, and cut the carbon footprint of Australia’s growing tech economy.
