Cartridges 4 Planet Ark
In 2003 Close the Loop and Planet Ark joined together to establish the first national multi vendor campaign, ‘Cartridges 4 Planet Ark. This program was designed specifically as a multi vendor program to minimise the costs and maximise the efficiency of collecting used imaging consumables. Since the program's inception over 18,000,000 cartridges have been diverted from landfill and to date there are over 4000 collection boxes as public drop off points located across Australia in six leading retailers - Officeworks, Harvey Norman, Australia Post, Dick Smith, JB HiFi and The Good Guys. There is a Covenant providing guidelines and schedules to the operations of the program. Within this Governance document the Targets, Goals and KPI’s are outlined as decided by the Program partners. Close the Loop’s Operations are annually audited to ensure adherence with the brand promise of Zero Waste to Landfill and for 9 years running, has clearly passed. Program participants actively participate in planning for the collections and recycling of cartridges. In addition, they provide financial support to the public promotion of the program in the form of an annual fee paid to Planet Ark. Now in its 10th year, 'Cartridges 4 Planet Ark' has diverted over 18,000,000 cartridges from landfill and our target this year is 20,000,000 cartridges!
