Mobile Phone Collections

MobileMuster, the mobile phone industry's official recycling program has partnered with Close the Loop to make recycling more accessible and easier for workplaces by providing an integrated collection service for cartridges and mobiles.

This now means staff can recycle their old mobiles, batteries, chargers and accessories from work and home by simply placing them in the existing 'Cartridges 4 Planet Ark' boxes along with the cartridges. Helping your work place increase returns and reduce the potential of e-waste being sent to landfill.

To recycle your old mobile, it's battery, charger and other accessories all you need to do is drop them into your 'Cartridges 4 Planet Ark' box, making sure the battery is either still connected to the handset or if not the points are taped*. It's as simple as that!

The pick up process hasn’t changed. Close the Loop will collect the full bag of mixed cartridges and phones/accessories from your workplace as per usual and sort the products upon return to its facility. The mobiles and accessories are then sent to MobileMuster's recycling facility.

The following mobile components can be recycled: 

• all brands of mobile phones
• their batteries 
• chargers 
• accessories (inc. headsets, car kits etc), and
  
• mobile network wireless broadband devices.

All mobiles will be recycled to the highest environmental standards by MobileMuster. None will be refurbished or resold. Mobiles are over 90% recyclable and 0% biodegradable.

Enhanced Reporting available on Request

Our Resource Recovery Certificates (available on request) will now include both your cartridge and mobile phone collections, so you can include this data in your Annual Sustainability Reporting to measure your success.

Promoting this New Service to Colleagues

We have developed a range of new resources to help you promote this free service to your colleagues. They include:

• MobileMuster stickers to put on your collection boxes,
  
• An e-flier to email out to your colleagues, plus
• Posters to put up around the office
• MobileMuster brochures and posters that you can print out and put up around your workplace.
